We are looking for an outstanding manager to join the band and lead the data scientists who support our Music Partnerships teams, meaning the teams at Spotify who collaborate with record labels, music publishers, artists and songwriters.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and mentor a team of hard-working data scientists as part of the Content Analytics group
  • Become the company’s central point of accountability for analysis, data tools and datasets related to Spotify’s partnerships with the music industry, acting as a trusted advisor to leadership
  • Manage a roadmap of long term projects, such as identifying emerging artists at scale, or automatizing quarterly insights for Spotify’s music licensors
  • Carefully craft presentations for senior management at top industry partners, covering their current performance and future opportunities on Spotify
  • Advance the use of data science with Spotify’s music partnerships teams, including rolling out prediction models into business processes, and using AB-testing to influence Spotify’s product development
  • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to non-technical audiences, through clear visualizations and data storytelling

Who you Are:

  • You have experience managing a team of Data Scientists or Analysts
  • Previous experience in the music industry is a strong plus for this role. Other media, entertainment, or technology experience is also valued on top of being passionate about music and popular culture in general
  • You are an effective communicator. You focus just as much on how you deliver your findings, as you do on the technical craft of uncovering new insights.
  • You have a degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics; advanced degree is desirable
  • 5+ years of relevant experience analyzing complex data with SQL, Python, and/or R
  • You have further technical expertise in data science:
  • Experience building data visualizations and dashboards (e.g. Tableau or similar BI solution),
  • Modeling and statistical knowledge is valued (e.g. forecasting, AB-testing, or feature engineering for machine learning)
  • Experience architecting and scheduling datasets is valued.
