Lead Data Science Analyst, Machine Learning Annotation

The Data Science Search & Recommendations team is looking for a Lead Data Science Analyst to design, manage and deliver human-labeled datasets for improving machine learning models. In this role, you’ll work with a group of talented data scientists, and partner with fellow engineers, analysts, and product managers to bring to life our next-generation deep learning search products, such as search autocomplete, query understanding, and neural product retrieval. 

What You’ll Do:

• Scope, develop, and operate data labeling projects that produce high-quality, ML-ready data sets.
• Uncover deep insights in data to inform large scale state-of-the-art ML development
• Manage third-party data labeling efforts and provide annotator training
• Maintain existing annotation tools
• Own data-labeling pipelines that distribute annotation and publish annotated data
• Develop and apply ML-based pre-annotation tools to speed up the annotation process
• Work with Data scientists to apply Active Learning data selection strategies
• Ensure on-time delivery of highly consistent datasets; own annotation consistency measurement
• Assist data scientists to create new annotation guidelines 
• Continuously improve quality and throughput of data labeling workflows.

What You’ll Need:

• 4+ years of experience in a quantitative or technical work environment, Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related discipline
• Experience building and/or QAing ML human-labeled datasets
• At least 2 years of experience with SQL, GBQ, or similar technologies
• High comfort level with Python (preferred), or with other languages such as R
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where there can be degrees of ambiguity
• Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Passionate about AI and ML
• In-depth knowledge of language and linguistics is a plus
