Summer Internship, Data Operations in Publishing Solutions

We are looking for an insatiably curious data operations intern that will join the Publishing Solutions team. You will contribute to our mission of enabling new product innovation in the field of music rights and ensuring that songwriters are compensated for their works. Specifically, you will work with data operations managers and data scientists to advance new process development, improve existing data operations, and provide insights on publishing data. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.

What you'll do

• Find opportunities to turn manual processes into automated solutions
• Leverage publishing data sources to provide insight to licensing partners through dashboards and informational decks
• Support the development of new data systems/processes for innovating on how Spotify pays royalties for publishing rights

Who you are

• A current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in data science, data analytics, computer science, or related field and planning to graduate in 2023
• You currently have valid work authorization to work in the country in which this role is based that will extend from June to August 2022
• You know how to query data to uncover insights and build tools for data processing to efficiently address problems. You turn data and insights into practical recommendations for collaborators
• You are experienced with SQL and cloud data management technologies such as GCS. You have an eye for operational improvement in scaled data processes
• Demonstrable experience with scripting languages such as Python and creating dashboards using software such as Tableau or Data Studio is a plus
• You care about finding ways to do things better and making your colleagues’ lives easier. You thrive on taking technically complex challenges and distilling them for non-technical partners
• You are passionate about enabling creators to make a living off their works and supporting Spotify’s ability to grow as a company in a constantly evolving music rights landscape
• You have experience with data analysis/process improvements at a large firm that you can tell us about

• We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
• Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location
• For this role, you can choose to either work from home or from one of our office locations
• Working hours? We operate within the EST time zone for collaboration

Our paid summer internships last for 10-13 weeks and start at the beginning of June. The last day to apply is Monday, January 31, 2022 at 4:59 PM EST.
