Data is at the core of Outreach's strategy. It drives ourselves and our customers to the highest levels of success. We use it for everything from customer health scores and revenue forecasts, to operational metrics of our AWS infrastructure, to helping increase product engagement and user productivity  through natural language understanding, to predictive analytics and causal inference via experimentation. As our customer base continues to grow, we are looking towards new ways of leveraging our data to deeper understand our customers’ needs and deliver new products and features to help invent the future of sales.The mission of the Data Science team is to enable such continuous innovation by modeling customer engagement workflows, developing metrics to measure success and efficiency of these workflows and providing insights and tools to support execution and optimization of these workflows. As a member of the team, you will be on the ground floor working with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Application Engineers and executives to define and implement our strategy for delivering on this mission. The Simulation & Forecasting team is a brand new data science team that will own all science and machine learning aspects for our new Outreach Commit product. The team will be located in Indianapolis together with the rest of the Commit organization. The team will begin by integrating Commit’s simulation and forecasting capabilities with the rest of the Outreach ML infrastructure, and then proceed to improve those capabilities using new signals and models and build new prediction, recommendation, alerting, goal setting, and other features to enable Sales Leaders plan, forecast, and execute with confidence and support. As a manager and the first member of the team, you will be responsible for working with the rest of the Commit organization to define long term vision and roadmap for the Commit product, defining the necessary skill sets and finding and hiring team members with those skill sets, driving team’s yearly and quarterly planning and execution. You will be expected to spend a substantial part of your time doing hands on Data Science work. The work you will do is not just build features and systems - you will forever revolutionize how sales leaders work! 

Our Vision of You

  • You have 10+ years of technical experience including;
  • Experience building a wide range of ML and statistical models, for online and offline scenarios.
  • Building production data pipelines with distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark.
  • Experiences with Spark’s Mlib, AWS, GCP,  Databricks, MLFlow are a plus.
  •  Deploying and running statistical and ML models in production applications
  • You are familiar with Forecasting algorithms and Simulation frameworks, and have practical experience in at least one of these areas
  • You understand the entire lifecycle of statistical and machine learning product development, from inception to production
  • You have substantial coding experience. Experience with Python and its ML packages such as scikit-learn is a plus
  • You are hands on, able to quickly pick up new tools and languages, and excited about building things and experimenting
  • You are experienced at finding and hiring top talent
  • You are experienced at mentoring team members to help them learn and grow beyond what they thought was possible, both technically and personally. You go above and beyond to make your team successful
  • You are honest, admit mistakes, and own fixing them
  • You are a motivated and talented craftsperson: always looking to sharpen and adapt your skills
  • You have a MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field, r equivalent industry experience
  • You have 3+ years of people management experience
