JOB TITLE:   Lead Data Scientist

DUTIES: Design and develop data science models to optimize user experience. Develop regression and machine learning models to surface critical business insights around customer profiles, user-behaviors, and marketing and retention program effectiveness. Turn models into data products, collaborate with engineering teams, and integrate into processes throughout MongoDB using Python, R and SQL, and MQL. Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with end-users of data products and respond to stakeholder needs. Demonstrate effective mentoring of junior data scientists via pairing, algorithm and model review, and code review. Utilize ability to seek empirical evidence through proofs of concept, statistical validation and external research and apply strong knowledge of statistics (e.g. hypothesis testing, regressions). Develop and deploy complex Machine Learning models that are integrated into company process. Attend and present at international conferences to keep the team up to date with the newest developments in quantitative modeling of human behavior and increase team’s recognition in the data science community. Travel required up to 5% to various unanticipated sites throughout the US and abroad.

REQUIREMENTS: PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and two (2) years of experience in data science modeling or related occupation.

SKILLS: Experience and/or education must include:

  1. Building statistical models to surface insights using sophisticated statistical and machine learning techniques;
  2. Developing regression and machine learning models to surface critical business insights around customer profiles user-behaviors, and marketing and retention program effectiveness;
  3. Demonstrating effective mentoring of junior data scientists via pairing, algorithm and model review, and code review;
  4. Python, R, and SQL;
  5. Running online experiments to validate data science models, sample size estimation, power analysis, significance testing;
  6. Utilizing ability to seek empirical evidence through proofs of concept, statistical validation and external research and applying strong knowledge of statistics (e.g. hypothesis testing, regressions); and
  7. Turning models into data products, collaborating with engineering teams, and integrating into processes throughout MongoDB.

SALARY: at least $162,225/year
