To power Vinted’s fast-growing global network, we need a strong shipping data science & analytics team, to make sure we take the most efficient data-driven path in expanding our low-cost, high-convenience shipping service.As our new Decision Scientist in the Shipping domain, you will become a member of a data science & analytics team that proactively helps business stakeholders in Shipping make data-driven decisions by performing data analyses, applying statistical methods and building automated dashboards. Example topics you will be involved in include but are not limited to shipping pricing, sustainability, logistics optimisation. You will report to the Manager of Data Science & Analytics, Shipping and will be part of the Vinted Data Science & Analytics Guild with fellow data roles from other domains.
Within Data Science & Analytics (DSA) we have three distinct roles. We believe that each role can make a similarly sized business impact in different ways and therefore our salary ranges are the same for all three roles. To understand your role within DSA context better, here are brief descriptions of each role we have in the department:
* Decision Scientists are responsible for actionable insights, identifying and sizing opportunities, and automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision making.* Data Scientists are responsible for identification of algorithmic opportunities, ensuring those opportunities are addressed in an optimal fashion and design, development and maintenance of production-grade statistical and machine learning algorithms.* Analytics Engineers are responsible for data curation – translating data needs from stakeholders into architecting, building and maintaining efficient & reliable data models and pipelines.

In this position, you will:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders (finance and business analysts, program managers, strategic partnership managers) to identify strategic opportunities and answer key business questions
  • Analyse identified opportunities to understand their scope and impact
  • Design and track the performance of experiments and the results of business decisions, to proactively provide data-driven insights
  • Own the key performance indicators, including selection, tracking, forecasting, and proactively flagging issues
  • Enable your team and direct stakeholders to independently leverage data for business insights via self-serving and dashboarding tools (Looker)
  • Drive the usage of data & analytics within the organisation

About you:

  • Highly results-oriented and comfortable with iterative processes
  • Analytically curious with strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Fluent in SQL and working experience in an analytics language (Python, R, etc.)
  • A strong communicator who can present results in an informative and persuasive manner and discuss complex subjects with varied audiences
  • Statistically proficient3+ years of analytical / data / BI work experience
  • Excellent at communicating in written and spoken English
  • Advantage: advanced knowledge of Python or Scala
  • Advantage: Practical experience in logistics or e-commerce

We want people to work from where they’re most comfortable, which is why we’re using a hybrid workplace model at Vinted for the foreseeable future.
Hybrid means that we encourage working from the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the remainder of your time from either home or the office, but it’s not required. You’re welcome to work from either location all or some of the time, depending on what you think is best and safest for you, and how the Covid-19 situation is developing where you are.
The salary range for this position is 2,900-4,600 € (gross) per month.
