As our new Decision Scientist in the Data Science & Analytics department (Growth domain), you’ll help Vinted achieve its mission of making second hand first choice worldwide. By solving complex problems you’ll improve the Vinted product and facilitate data driven decision making. As a data driven strategist, you’ll be working on complex and strategic projects that will substantially impact the course of the company during this exciting phase of rapid growth. Growth domain at Vinted is focused on expanding our user base by optimizing the user funnel, ensuring sellers are as successful as they can be, and taking care of efficient geographical expansion and marketing tools.
You will be part of a cross-functional product team working alongside Product Owner, Designer and Engineers. You will report to the Manager of Data Science & Analytics, Growth and you will be part of the Vinted Data Science & Analytics Guild with fellow data roles from other domains (i.e. being part of the same guild, you will collaborate and learn alongside other Decision Scientists from other domains). The team will be focused on user funnel optimization and geographical expansion.
Within Data Science & Analytics (DSA) we have three distinct roles. We believe that each role can make a similarly sized business impact in different ways and therefore our salary ranges are the same for all three roles. To understand your role within DSA context better, here are brief descriptions of each role we have in the department: 
> Analytics Engineers are responsible for data curation – translating data needs from stakeholders into architecting, building and maintaining efficient & reliable data models and pipelines.> Decision Scientists are responsible for actionable insights, identifying and sizing opportunities, and automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision making.> Data Scientists are responsible for identification of algorithmic opportunities, ensuring those opportunities are addressed in an optimal fashion and design, development and maintenance of production-grade statistical and machine learning algorithms.

In this position, you’ll:

  • Be your partners’ primary point of contact to provide answers to (strategic) business questions
  • Ensure these questions are answered in optimal fashion (e.g. in the form of an ad hoc deep-dive, experiment, dashboard, or automatically recurring analysis)
  • Collaborate with your team and stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities
  • Analyse identified opportunities to understand their scope and impact (i.e. size opportunities)
  • Select important KPIs for the team, track and forecast their performance over time
  • Enable stakeholders to independently leverage data for business insights via self-serving and dashboarding tools (Looker)

About you:

  • 2+ years working experience as a Business Strategist, Decision Scientist, Data Analyst or Data Scientist or in a related position
  • Highly results-oriented and comfortable with iterative processes
  • A good communicator who can present complex topics clearly and persuasively to different audiences
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and business skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A degree in statistics, physics, econometrics, economics, business or a similar field
  • Statistical proficiency (e.g. A/B testing, regression analysis)
  • Proficient in SQL and experience with dashboarding tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, etc.)
  • Programming experience (Python/R/Scala)
  • Advantage: experience with Machine Learning techniquesAdvantage: experience working in a tech company or in a cross-functional product development team

We are adopting a hybrid workplace model. This means that you’ll spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays working from the office, and for the remainder of your time, you’ll be able to choose between either working from home or the office. The new model will roll out once the pandemic situation is under control and national workplace restrictions are lifted.
The salary range for this position is 2500 - 4600 € (gross) per month.
