Job summary
The Ring FinTech team is looking for a customer-obsessed and innovative Data Engineer, to provide technical support for the Ring Finance team’s reporting systems. The Data Engineer will primarily focus on support of TM1, Tableau, select tables within a RedShift Data Warehouse to support our Finance team’s internal reporting, forecasting, oversight and guidance the Ring business. The Data Engineer will bring innovation, a passionate voice, and an ability to prioritize and execute on a fast-moving set of priorities, competitive pressures, and operational initiatives.
Key job responsibilities
• Ownership of technical implementation of Finance BI solution in TM1 / Tableau including osight of system architecture working with GFT team.
• Develop and manage end-to-end automation for financial reports within internal tools, primarily TM1, Tableau, TM1, Quicksight. Including sourcing data, coordination of ETL, creation of dashboard and deployment to server.
• Drive end-to-end automation of P&L forecasting. Includes inventing a scalable data model to centralize forecast outputs meetings needs of multiple teams (Finance, Corporate, Sales etc)
• Develop and maintain governance of data model and data dictionary
• Create multisource data pipelines (ETL) which consolidate into logical query able data model
• Develop audit mechanisms to validate data quality and monitor availability
• Develop automated solutions to month-end accounting workflow which streamline the monthly close process and provide granular data outputs for financial reporting & planning
• Create Customer and Product P&Ls thus empowering our business partners to own and self-service the financial management of their respective domains
• Develop reporting and provide data which allows for the Finance team to analyze various metrics, develop actionable insights and improve decision making.
A day in the life
As a Data Engineer, you will work with our Finance team and partner with the business to create automated and scalable analytical tools that will ultimately be critical in driving the growth and profitability of the business. This includes building the infrastructure for regular reporting on business performance, building insights into various Ring and Devices programs, and deep diving the assumptions behind each program to validate our forecasting model. You will leverage the data to provide key data-driven insights, enable new opportunities, and innovate on behalf of our business customers.
About the team
The Ring FinTech team supports the financial systems tools used by Ring, its subsidiaries and its integration with the Amazon parent entity. The team support includes tools including ERP software, NetSuite, as well as integrated Accounting and Reporting tools: Oracle, TM1 and Tableau.
• Understanding of management accounting reporting concepts and tools, esp. TM1
• 4+ years in SQL (windows functions, table/view creation, aggregations), ETL management, database architecture, and OLAP concepts
• 4+ years in data visualization and reporting automation through Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, QuickSight, TM1, and or other BI visualization software
• 4+ years in data modeling (defining dimensions vs. measures, table scalability) and partnering with Data Engineering to create and maintain multiple schemas
• 4+ years in developing new KPIs for the business to measure and track that have direct financial implications
• 3+ years of executive presentation experience handling various points of view and driving consensus
• 2+ years of experience in retail finance as a financial/operational analyst
• 2+ years of experience on a FinTech team handling analytics, forecasting automation, web app development
