The Role

As a fast growing company, we are ingesting and generating ever increasing amounts of data. We’re looking for a Director of Data Engineering, who will touch all aspects of the data operation, leading a top performing team of data and analytics engineers, to ensure a robust, efficient, and consistent foundation for insight, reports and ML.

What you get to do every day

• Oversee data operation from ELT, warehousing to BI platform and reverse ETL, ensuring robust, quality, fault-tolerant of the operation
• Lead a team of data and analytics engineers and work closely with data analysts, scientists and business partners to understand data requirements and use cases
• Architect data warehouse with elegant design thinking mindset
• Develop and automate pipelines and tools to enable streamlined and robust operation 
• Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure proper representation of data requirements
• Responsible for data integrity and consistency and quality of new releases
• Partner closely with infrastructure team to ensure security, stability and scalability of the system
• Build and implement governance programs across the organization to protect data, design and implementation integrity
• Mentor and lead the team, responsible for team member’s career development and growth

What you bring to the role

• Having successfully led top-performing teams of data and analytics engineers
• Technical architect w/ 7+ years of full-time professional experience in building and optimizing ELT pipelines and data warehouse to empower enterprise-grade data platform and reporting capabilities
• Expert at data modeling, architecture and system design
• Hands on experiences with data observability, orchestration and cloud infrastructure tools 
• Expert at data modeling, architecture and system design
• Hands-on proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language e.g. Python
• Great understanding of algorithm and can articulate the tradeoffs between variations of algorithm
• Experiences with event-driven architecture and microservices
• Comfort in working in a fast-paced environment with moving targets and changing priorities
• Proven ability to speak both business and technology, and effectively liaison between teams

Nice to have / Bonus Points

• Direct experiences with terraform, prefect, dbt, Stitch, Snowflake, Looker, hightouch is a plus
• Hands-on experiences with web analytics, 3rd party augmentation data, and A/B testing  is a plus
• Hands-on experiences with clinical data and / or pharmacy / medical claims data is a plus 
• Experience in hosting, provisioning and maintaining database servers in cloud environment, preferably AWS, is a plus
• Professional Experience as a full-stack software engineer is a plus
