Job summary
Global Supply Chain and Transportation Procurement (GSCTP) is an organization under worldwide operations that develops and maintains strategic relationships with third party (3P) supply chain and transportation service providers. The team’s mission is to secure capacity from third-party providers, increase cost efficiencies of the business, expand supplier capabilities, and improve the overall quality of our products and services. GSCTP focuses on the customer, disrupts the status quo, and builds a competitive advantage for Amazon.

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join the team. 3P providers move tens of millions of packages each day for our customers. In order to evaluate the volume, cost, and performance of these providers, as well as make the best forward-looking decisions for contract negotiation, we need to store and process data in the size of terabytes. This presents exciting opportunities to work with very large data sets and perform ETL on them using AWS cloud technologies such as S3 and Redshift. At the end of the day we rely on great design and best practices for cloud-based infrastructure to deliver the speed and scalability required by the procurement organization. If you are passionate about using data analytics to find insights and drive continuous improvements, and are a self-starter who is comfortable working closely with internal and external business partners, you are the candidate we are looking for!

As a Data Engineer, you will work directly with business stakeholders and technical partners to design and implement end-to-end data solutions to ultimately support contract negotiations, business reviews, performance management, and process improvements. You will work with a wide range of data technologies and stay abreast of emerging technologies, investigating and implementing where appropriate. As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for developing the data architecture components that scales for the ever-evolving data needs. You will apply cloud-based AWS services to solve challenging problems around data processing and data warehouse design to enable the development of BI self-service solutions. You will focus on automation and optimization for all areas of DW/ETL maintenance. The ideal candidate should also have strong data analysis skills and can build BI solutions alongside Business Intelligence Engineers (BIE) on the team.
