Senior Frontend Engineer - Data Engineering

About the Role
Fasten your helmet and climb aboard if you’re ready to be our Senior Frontend Engineer for the Data Engineering team. As Gojek is undergoing exponential growth, our data has followed the same growth curve. Thus, as an integral member of the Data Engineering team, you'll be at the epicenter of one of Southeast Asia's most coveted companies, and get to witness and solve the challenges that come with rapid scaling.
In this role, you'll focus heavily on building and scaling a data platform that enables and delivers reliable, trustworthy, and approachable data to our users, as well as designing, developing, deploying frontend applications with a high sense of ownership. Additionally, you'll devise and manage our entire web infrastructure, and produce innovative solutions that our users will enjoy. Your software will deliver, model, and curate data that powers core data platforms throughout Gojek.

What You Will Do

• Drive architecture, design & implementation of complex web features
• Design and implementation of the overall web architecture;
• Write RFCs, system analysis documents outlining the proposed changes 
• Optimize web performance on page loads, search, filter over multi-page content
• Ensuring the entire stack is designed and built for speed and scalability in accordance with best practices and UX specifications
• Debug production issues across services and different levels of the stack;
• Ability to learn new stacks and propose systematic changes to the existing stack
• Code reusable, modular UI components that can be open sourced;
• Experience in cross-browser compatibility
• Work with UX designers to build ‘Pixel-perfect’ implementation user interface;
• Deep dive into UI frameworks/library, evaluate, articulate choices based on use cases

What You Will Need

• At least 4 years of experience in developing modular front-end components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or typescript
• Well-versed in standard front-end framework such as ReactJS
• Well-versed with CSS preprocessors & modern CSS frameworks
• Good understanding of basic frontend security aspects and how to mitigate them
• Ability to scope and review user stories and translate them into an actionable items
• Solid understanding of design patterns and principles (e.g. SOLID principles)
• Knowledge of multiple charting libraries (highcharts, d3)
• Ability to collaborate and communicate asynchronously, delivering and iterating quickly
• Knowledge or experience with Docker, kafka, Kubernetes

Our Data Engineering (DE) team has over 40 talented folks based in Bengaluru and Jakarta. At Gojek, our products generate a tremendous amount of data, but that’s only step one. We’re constantly making use of that data by giving value back to our customers, merchant-partners, and driver-partners in the form of recommendations and other customizations. Our team is responsible for building the platform and products to manage the entire lifecycle of data.
