About the Data Engineering TeamThe Data Engineering team at Wealthsimple consists of software engineers with diverse backgrounds in math, operations research, computer science, engineering and business. The team is responsible for: 1. Wealthsimple’s data platform, including machine learning foundation, data reconciliation, analytics tool, etc.2. Data extract, transform and load process across products and analytics3. Enterprise databases and data warehousing operations

We understand each software engineer working in data has a unique blend of skills so whether your strength is in data platform or data modelling or stream processing, we'd love to chat with you 🙂

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Work across a wide breadth of technologies within the data domain
• Take initiative and ownership over problem spaces and delvers on solutions
• Build analytical tools that provide insight into business metrics across Wealthsimple
• Build and operate large-scale distributed systems such as Airflow, Flink, Kafka, Spark, etc.

In this role, you are someone who:

• Has experience with Python, Java, Kotlin, Ruby or any modern language
• Understands modern data modelling and ETL design, implementation and maintenance
• Has a proven track record of building the processes and tools needed for delivering well-designed and tested software
• Is oriented around growth, and excited about a fast paced environment packed with opportunity
• Has effective communication skills and a drive to work collaboratively across teams
• Believes that debate, inclusivity and transparency result in better products

Nice to have:

• Experience working with data at scale using distributed platforms such as Airflow, Flink, Kafka, Redshift, Spark, or similar
• Experience integrating, building or maintaining data analytics platforms and tooling
• Experience owning an application end-to-end and are able to understand and address infrastructure concerns
• Experience building and architecting microservices and distributed systems
