We are looking for an analytics expert to lead and grow a distributed team of Data Scientists within Freemium Analytics. You and the team will use sophisticated techniques on large sets of data to create practical business insights and recommendations that inform our overall growth strategy.
The Freemium Analytics team is part of Spotify’s core business strategy organisation. You’ll play a crucial role in the growth and direction of Spotify as we grow to 400M+ users around the globe. At your fingertips, you’ll have access to all of the data Spotify has to offer, and the opportunity to be creative with how you use it to derive insights and strategies. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music!

What You'll Do

  • Lead, manage and grow a distributed team of Data Scientists within Freemium Analytics.
  • Closely collaborate and partner with senior leaders across multiple teams and fields to help understand and guide the growth of Spotify users and subscribers.
  • Use industry-leading tools and methods for data analysis to drive business value.
  • Define appropriate important metrics, forecast business impact of growth initiatives and more.

Who You Are

  • At least 5+ years of professional experience synthesising insights from data.
  • Have hands-on experience using tools such as Python or R. Strong SQL skills are critical. Experience with distributed systems (Redshift, Hadoop, BigQuery) a plus.
  • Intellectually curious, creative, and diligent - you enjoy thinking about the business as much as the data!
  • Have leadership and management experience, as well as strong project management skills.
  • Have experience collaborating with partners to measure the impact of business/marketing initiatives and presenting those findings in coherent recommendations.
  • Passionate about fostering a data and insights driven culture.
  • Have a background in Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a relevant field.
  • Comfortable working on, and managing, a globally distributed team (with occasional international travel).

Where You'll Be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the EMEA region in which we have a work location
  • Prefer an office to work from home instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences. Find more information about our Work From Anywhere options here.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Central European time zone for collaboration
  • We ask that our team members be located within Greenwich Mean time zone, Central European time zone, or Eastern European standard time zone for the purposes of our collaboration hours
