The Role >
Here at Neo4j, we’re on the lookout for a software engineer or a data scientist with strong engineering skills to join our Driver Engineering Team. As a driver engineer, you’ll work on building and supporting the Python Driver library, which acts as an adapter between the network and client applications. Your primary responsibility will be to develop data science capabilities in Python.
Neo4j is widely used by data scientists and you will be part of improving the user experience and functionalities for data scientists. You will be part of influencing the strategic direction for the drivers and how they will support data scientists together with our product managers and you will be involved in functional and technical design work.
One of the most foundational parts of Neo4j’s growth is our user community and you will also be interacting with the data science and Python driver communities. As well as software development, you’ll also have the opportunity to do things like supporting community projects, running meetups and hackathons, writing blog posts, and helping with training and other events.

We're looking for practical experience in:
- Python language, platform and ecosystem
- Python data science libraries such as pandas, NumPy, PyArrow, and others.
- You have some experience as a data scientist, so you understand the user perspective and needs of data scientists who will be using the data science library
You will ideally have experience and interest in:
- Database management systems
- API design
- Docker
- Python C/C++ bindings
- Customer experience and developer community interaction. You will be involved in things like user interviews, presenting the driver for users and run trainings about it..
