About the team:Big Data Compute team is at the forefront of cloud architecture and big data analytics. Our systems ingest hundreds of billion events daily and the volume is growing rapidly as we expand globally. The data we collect is curated into a petabyte scale warehouse to serve our Data Science and Engineering as well as Machine Learning teams in making decisions across every aspect of our business. To query this data, we maintain a world-class big data platform. This represents a unique opportunity to work with the open source community and build out the best analytics platform in the cloud for our global offering.
In this role, you will be contributing to Netflix’s industry leading big data processing platform and working with other companies invested in big data to build out open source big data solutions.

Specifically, you will:

• Work with various teams inside Data Platform such as Kragle (that provides Python library for programmatic access to the Data Platform) and Big Data Portal (Data Experience) team in order to design, code, test and deliver code that interfaces compute engines like Spark and Presto/TrinoDb with Kragle and DX. 
• Be a liaison to help data scientists for building/diagnosing big data queries

• Have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field and 3+ years experience working in a role similar to this, in a distributed systems environment.
