Location: WFH due to Covid but candidates must be local to Edmonton, AB

Are you looking for an exciting career where you can use your skills in Gaming and are obsessed with data and reporting? Our game industry client is looking for an experienced Data Specialist to join their Development Support team in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The Data Specialist will be partnering with both on-site and off-site test teams, providing support via data analysis and reporting.

Daily/weekly tasks

  • Receives questions from internal customers, understands the questions, and determines the data needed to answer them with minimal supervision
  • Manage assigned work using project tools and working with the leadership team
  • Imports, transforms and cleanses data from a variety of sources
  • Defines data model for cleaned data to create highly structured, reproducible and analyzable data sets
  • Provide Data Visualization by building dashboards, charts, and reports that do not require manual updates
  • Perform quality assurance on generated results to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Builds strong relationships across the data analyst community, to share knowledge and learn from others
  • Takes responsibility and ownership for their active projects, always looking for new problems to solve and new concepts to implement
  • Takes an active role in bug hunting and driving reporting quality through query optimization and/or visual expertise

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree or relevant work experience
    • Training in Comp Sci, Math, or Business with Data Speciality
  • Knowledge of or previous analytical experience
    • Knowledge of how to analyze data – ideally with some background in math and statistics
  • Intermediate MS Office exp. (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
    • Power BI and/or Tableau experience a bonus
  • Aptitude and experience with data analysis and visualization software
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL for retrieving data from different source types
  • Experience with Python is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills to solve complex business requirements
  • Detail oriented, organized, careful and takes mistakes seriously
  • Self-motivated and self-driven, with demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and independently
