Senior Data Scientist

The Data Science team supports vital areas across the company, including operations, fulfillment, recommendation, fraud detection, business development, and many more. The team uses data-driven solutions (ranging from machine learning to causal inference and experimental design) to optimize, automate, and scale processes around the organization, collaborating with a broad set of stakeholders and colleagues on the Data Analytics team. Team members work across the entire data stack, and are expected to independently develop and maintain machine learning APIs and data services end-to-end, from data ingestion to model training to deployment/monitoring. There will also be opportunities to partner with the Data Platform team to advance longer term data infrastructure goals.

In this role you will:

• Build predictive and descriptive APIs backed by machine learning and other data solutions
• Tackle optimization challenges across logistics, marketing, and additional business areas
• Propose and formalize data projects to solve pain points observed in the work of stakeholders
• Instill best practices for measurement and experimentation throughout the organization
• Research and implement new investments in the data stack to enable future opportunities
• Work cross-functionally to develop novel features and strategic initiatives
• Communicate results and methodology effectively within the team and to external stakeholders

We are looking for:

• BS degree in a relevant technical field required; Masters or PhD is a bonus
• 5+ years experience in data science, ideally in e-commerce or at a startup
• Extensive experience working across the data stack, including: sourcing and cleaning data, exploratory analysis, modeling and statistical methods, advanced data visualization, application development, production deployment and monitoring, experimentation and measurement
• Mastery of Python + SQL, and deep familiarity with AWS ecosystem
• Expertise in machine learning, causal inference and optimization techniques
• A self-starter who is ready to wear many hats, independently conceive and execute on large initiatives, and always brings a positive, collaborative attitude
• Strong communication, prioritization, and relationship building skills
