The Senior Data Scientist will develop machine-learning-driven products for the eDiscovery and Financial Compliance industries in close collaboration with product leaders and engineers. You will use your experience in NLP to build models that help legal and compliance professionals organize data, discover the truth, and act on it. Relativity is investing heavily in AI -- you will have an opportunity to shape the culture, best practices, and vision of how machine learning and AI are utilized at Relativity. Relativity is also the market leader in eDiscovery. Products you build will shape the future of global justice. You will have the freedom to experiment with and participate in deciding which big data, deep learning and NLP tools are right for empowering our customers, such as Dask, Spark, PyTorch, TensorFlow, SpaCy or AllenNLP.

Responsibilities

  • Develop machine-learning models and algorithms to be released as new product features.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop production-level code and contribute to the entire deployment lifecycle.
  • Contribute to developing internal standards, processes and tooling for a new data science team.
  • Collaborate with Product to assemble datasets for evaluation and model building. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building conceptual search solutions at the scale of hundreds of millions of documents
  • Experience with pre-trained transformer models and adapting them to domain-specific tasks
  • Experience in the full model development lifecycle
  • Legal industry experience, or interest in the legal industry and justice system. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in information retrieval, natural language processing, or a closely related discipline, AND 2 years of relevant industry experience OR a Ph.D. in information retrieval, natural language processing, or a closely related discipline OR the equivalent of 5 years of relevant academic/industry experience.
  • Experience in building and deploying natural language processing models
  • Proficient in programming and scripting in a language such as Python.
  • Comfortable with command-line tools in UNIX environments.
  • Intentional communicator – uses inclusive language whenever possible, communicates data science concepts to colleagues of all backgrounds, uses technical vocabulary judiciously and with intention
