Who We Are

The Merchandising organization at Wayfair includes the Merchandising Platform and the Product Content and Data Architecture team. Our mission is to create the market-leading product catalog for home goods across each of our stores, brands and geographies. The Product Content & Data Architecture team drives this mission as product and class experts, determining and evolving what information is needed to accurately describe each of our products, and structuring it to enable optimal product presentation and discovery. The Global Head of Product Content and Data Architecture, reporting to the Global Head of Merchandising, will be responsible for setting vision, establishing cross-functional plans and driving progress on our ambitious agenda to ensure complete, accurate and flexible product content. Crucial to the success of this role will be addressing the increased complexity that comes with tailoring to an expanding set of customer segments, geographies and stores. Wayfair is seeking an inspirational and highly analytical leader to drive improved customer and supplier experience around product content, scaling our operations in close partnership with Product, Tech, and Data Science.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key member of the Merch department leadership team, ensuring tight collaboration across Product Content and Data Architecture and the Platform teams on topics like supplier ability to optimize listings, product addition turnaround time, and filling product content gaps
  • Lead Wayfair-wide efforts to improve supplier and customer experience with respect to product content, determining and driving progress on cross-functional initiatives to improve supplier experience while maintaining or improving customer experience
  • Develop and evolve deep product expertise across all product classes by leveraging and documenting internal, competitive, and supplier intelligence
  • Optimize our set of requirements for product content, ensuring we have robust data architecture, metadata indicating the uses and value of requirements, and effective balance of nuance and standardization across product classes
  • Uncover and direct efforts to drive coverage and accuracy of product content with particularly high customer engagement
  • Expand what Wayfair is able to do with product content, uncovering and working with relevant teams to apply product data to high value customer-facing and internal use cases

 What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years of work experience, ideally with a background in top-tier management consulting and a focus in e-commerce
  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution with a strong academic record; focus in Economics, Business Administration, or related field a plus
  • MBA preferred
  • Passion for customer and supplier experience
  • Ability to build and lead a large, diverse team; can predict and preempt challenges
  • Strong communication skills – ability to summarize and share results with executives, and influence cross-functional roadmaps
  • Strong quantitative skills – ability to develop analytical methodologies and assumptions, conduct analyses, and synthesize findings
  • Strong business acumen – ability to understand how various parts of the business interact, and can identify and approach problems from a customer perspective
  • Ability to learn and act quickly, make decisions and draw conclusions in the face of ambiguity
  • Intellectually curious, high energy, with a strong work ethic and a desire to work in a fast-paced, high stakes team environment
