We work at the intersection of advertising and messaging technologies to connect millions of brands to billions of fans. As part of the Advertising team, we’re paving the way for a sustainable global Spotify business that allows even more creators to make a living off their art. Come join us and help build the platform that powers promotion at Spotify.
A rarity in digital media, podcast advertising gets results for advertisers, allows creators to profit and (when done well) entertains listeners. Spotify — through its growing ads business and ongoing investment in original audio content — has the outstanding opportunity to amplify and scale what’s great about podcast ads by building the first truly digital podcast ad experience.
Our team is looking for a data scientist to join the band and help us define, build, and forecast our audience-based podcast ad offerings. This role will sit directly with our forecasting & analytics squad, partnering with our product manager to guide our roadmap and our engineers to launch new analytics offerings.

What You'll Do

  • Explore podcast and audience data to answer key questions on the future of podcast ad targeting
  • Conceptualize approaches and evaluate models for forecasting podcast ad inventory
  • Propose changes to our product roadmap based on quantitative insights
  • Perform analysis on large sets of data to extract impactful insights that will help drive product decisions
  • Contribute to the development of the Product Insights function and the wider data science community at Spotify

Who You Are

  • You know how to understand and solve loosely defined problems and come up with relevant answers to guide product development decisions
  • You have a deep understanding of numbers, as well as a strong business sense (preferably within advertising)
  • You have 4+ years of proven experience, with a degree in computer science, statistics, or mathematics or another quantitative field
  • You have familiarity with developing statistical or machine learning-based forecasting methods from ideation to implementation and deployment
  • You have the technical competence to perform analytics: wrangling and querying data (SQL), coding skills (such as Python, Java, or Scala), experience with analytics & visualization libraries (pandas, tidyverse, seaborn, ggplot), visualization tools (Tableau, and experience performing analysis with large datasets
  • You possess statistical competence (such as regression modeling, a/b testing, significance testing etc)
  • You're an effective communicator: stellar communication skills with the ability to distill sophisticated thoughts and strategies into simple, impactful recommendations

Where You'll Be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location
  • Prefer an office to work from home instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences. Find more information about our Work From Anywhere options here.
