About the role
Coalition is looking for an experienced data scientist to help bring data expertise, rigor, and novel techniques to our security innovation efforts. You will use analytics, statistics, and data expertise to improve our ability to measure and mitigate cyber risk for our customers across the world. In this role,  you will work closely with the security organization to understand attack behavior, possible remediations, and how a company’s cyber profile affects the probability of a breach. You will communicate findings across the company and take a role in driving a data-driven security strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Be the data expert in our security domain: Measure and improve the business value of of proprietary internal data capabilities as well as evaluation of current (and potential) external data sources
  • Implement and scale data pipelines, new features, and algorithms that are essential to our production models
  • Tie security profiles and claims data into probabilistic measures of risk, working as an expert conduit between the security innovation, data science, and actuarial teams
  • Help identify, propose, and track levers to help move key security-related metrics 
  • Spread data science best practices to both data science and security teams

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience  with data science work, with experience analyzing, measuring, and increasing the impact of data on key business metrics
  • Strong skill in SQL and data science scripting language like Python or R
  • Ability to read and write high quality production-level code, experience with shared codebases
  • Oriented toward detail, curious about data/models/algorithms, skilled at critical thinking and problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Persistence, patience and a great sense of responsibility – we build the decisioning that protects our customers and drives the business!

Bonus Points

  • Experience working in risk: Fraud, Credit, or Cyber
  • Experience working in Tableau/Looker/Mode or similar data visualization tool
  • Experience with causal inference techniques
