SnapComms is now part of Everbridge: a fast-growing global provider of SaaS-based critical communications and enterprise safety solutions currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Engineer to be based in Takapuna-Auckland, New Zealand

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain ETL processes to translate data from native format to usable, application-ready data
  • Build tests to validate quality of incoming data
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines that can scale with our business and data collection growth
  • Work closely with product managers to understand business goals and priorities, and the role data plays in achieving them
  • Develop methods to combine, clean, and catalogue data that will be used in data analysis, visualization, and predictive analytics and machine learning applications
  • Work with Marketing, Product Management, User Experience, and Customer Success teams to understand business analytics and metrics needs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on internal data sources, structure, and definitions
  • Build and tune data models and act as the resident expert for data modelling
  • Develop a framework to ensure the delivery of high-quality data and analyses to stakeholders
  • Manage small projects, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure objectives are met
  • Research and implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
  • Research and develop connections needed to combine internally owned data sets with data from third party vendors (i.e. Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Seek opportunities to expand our data collections that can be used to facilitate business growth
  • Streaming data at scale. Handling high velocity, high volume data events
  • Implement data structures using best practices in data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, Databricks, Data Lakes and Snowflake
  • Performing thorough testing and data validation in order to deliver accurate data transformations and operational processes.  
  • Build and deliver high quality datasets to support business analysis
  • Work with diverse stakeholders to identify their challenges with data that can be addressed using various Analysis techniques.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong computer science fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and software engineering skills
  • Experience in a hands-on, data-centric role with data engineering, streaming, or warehousing
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to define needs and goals
  • Strong ability to understand and organise data from various sources
  • SQL, ETL, and data warehousing expertise
  • Spark, python or scala experience
  • Strong ability to understand and organize data from various sources
  • You will have a proven level of expertise in modern data analytics approaches, techniques and tools
  • Experience in sourcing data from many different environments and working with large and complex data
  • Technically strong in all areas of sourcing and transforming data as well as building and architecting operational data processing solutions
