We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Product Insights team. In this tribe, we work across the entire freemium funnel from launching new markets, identifying growth opportunities across new and mature markets to activating new users and converting those who can afford it to our premium offering. All of this in service of our mission to elevate the audio experience for both creators and fans. You will be part of the multidisciplinary Freemium Insights team; a fun loving and engaging group of highly motivated people specialising in User Research and Data Science.
As part of our team, you will support analysis and experimentation to drive improvements in key user journeys across free activation, premium acquisition, and retention. You will work with vast data sets to deliver impactful dashboards and analysis pieces. You will also support exploratory analysis and segmentation initiatives to better understand key user needs and behaviours. Additionally, you will help us to design new experiences as we look to optimise the freemium journey and launch additional products.

What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to identify the most impactful opportunities for product development based on user needs and help to bring them to life
  • Establish learning agendas, measurement plans and success metrics in close coordination with product teams
  • Plan, build, and manage key data pipelines and dashboards
  • Communicate insights and recommendations through clear visualizations and presentations
  • Lead experimentation initiatives to optimise key touchpoints across the freemium user journey
  • Support the roll-out of advanced modelling and machine learning initiatives
  • Be an advocate for data-informed decision making, making recommendations about the product performance and product experience
  • Contribute to the wider Freemium RnD product insights and data science community

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of demonstrated ability in a similar data scientist role
  • Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or a similar quantitative field
  • You have deep understanding of a breadth of statistics and modelling concepts (e.g. a/b testing, significance testing, regression models, causal inference in marketing and product launches, Bayesian techniques)
  • Significant experience with product analytics, including crafting success metrics, running power analyses, determining statistical significance, and presenting findings with clear product recommendations or implications
  • You have hands-on experience synthesising insights from data using tools such as Python, Scala, Pandas, R, BigQuery, SQL, Tableau
  • You know how to scope and solve loosely defined problems and come up with actionable insights to guide product development decisions
  • You’re a compelling storyteller who can communicate in succinct and inspiring ways to audiences with varied data science experience to influence real world product or feature decisions
  • You are comfortable researching and learning about new methods, tools and techniques, and enjoy experimenting with novel ways of approaching a problem
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams across multiple offices and timezones
  • It is a plus if you have demonstrated experience with hands-on statistical modelling and possess knowledge about machine learning (such as predictive modelling, decision trees, classification models, clustering techniques)
