Head of Data - Risk

About the Role
As the Head of Data (HoD) for Risk you will serve as the single point of contact to Gojek's Risk organisation for all data related functions. You will manage a talented troop of Data Scientists and Analysts and create an environment of high performance and engagement playing a critical role in advancing a comprehensive and high-impact risk management system that combines human and machine intelligence through predictive modeling for fraud detection and trust/risk scoring for users and transactions. You'll also take a hands-on approach in leading the development and deployment of data science solutions to enhance our Risk products, working closely with Product Managers and Engineers all the way.

What Will You Do

• Develop strategy and drive execution of the Data team's vision for our suite of Risk products and solutions
• Lead and manage a team of 10 Data Scientists and Analysts
• Help craft OKRs for Gojek Risk org together with Heads of Strategy, Analytics and Platform
• Translate complex business and mapping problems into workable solutions to enable teams to build, deploy, and scale Data Science solutions
• Ensure timely delivery & quality of OKR components owned by the Data team 
• Be the thought leader in application of data and AI to Risk/fraud related problems on the Gojek platform
• Drive regular cadences with the stakeholders to align on the future directions/roadmap
• Hire, nurture and retain the top talent

What You Will Need

• At least 10 years of experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer, with experience in Python/R
• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a relevant quantitative field
• Solid knowledge of Data Science and Machine Learning fundamentals, with proven experience formulating Data Science solutions to business problems
• Proven ability to recognize business needs and to communicate with multiple stakeholders within the Product Management, Business and Operations teams
• Prior academic or industry work experience in Risk domain is preferred
• Prior experience in managing a Data Science team

The Risk Data team consists of data scientists with diverse professional and personal backgrounds. We’re stationed across Jakarta, Bangalore, Singapore and Bangkok. The safety and trustworthiness of Gojek’s platform is our top priority; our efforts impact the user experience and financials, among many other things. Partnering closely with the subject matter experts, product managers, and engineers, we work to deliver bold solutions to reduce fraud and abuse on the platform. We’re a high-performing, tight-knit team who are committed to the safety and growth of the company, as well as each other’s personal growth and wellbeing. Pre-Covid, factions of our team would enjoy catching up over a round of drinks after work. However, with WFH becoming more normalized, we've been sharing our favorite ways to prioritize a healthy work-life balance at home. This includes ample “fun” Zoom calls where we discuss latest and interesting tech-related findings.
