Senior Data Engineer, Marketing at Checkout.comThe Marketing organisation at Checkout.com is scaling up and looking for a passionate and talented data engineer who can help us build data tools that support data-driven marketing activities.
We work with digital data across our many marketing platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaigns etc), content data and customer behavioural data. You will own the creation, maintenance and optimisation of our data platform that will enable the marketing analysts to create the business intelligence layer and predictive models for addressing business questions.
Your will use your strong ETL and data warehousing skills, work with diverse structured and semi-structured data, and translate business requirements into ready-to-use data models. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Own, design and maintain our marketing data infrastructure and assist with choosing the right technology stack for storing and processing data
  • Collaborate with data analysts to understand requirements for metrics and build robust models to help them perform relevant analysis
  • Identify marketing data sources and build optimised ETL pipelines to ingest, transform and deliver automated data to the analytics layer
  • Build data quality checks ensuring consistency and accuracy of data at all times
  • Perform sophisticated data transformation techniques such as imputation, encoding categorical data etc for statistical and machine learning models
  • Build and automate machine learning solutions
  • Write easy to understand documents on data sources, pipelines, architectures, tools and technologies
  • Establish relationships and work closely with the core data team to integrate our marketing platforms with the centralised data warehouse 

About you:

  • Relevant commercial experience in a fast growing business as a data engineer, data scientist or software engineer
  • Advanced skills in SQL for transforming and aggregating data
  • Experienced in data warehouse modelling using dbt or dataform
  • Strong ETL skills e.g. data ingestions pipelines using open source or commercial tools such as Python, Talend, Fivetran
  • Proven experience in data processing languages such as Python, Spark or Scala
  • Solid understanding and experience of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms
  • Familiar with cloud-based data warehouse technologies preferably Google BigQuery and Snowflake
  • Advocate for high quality modular scripting, automated tests and best practices
  • Knowledge of version control tools such as Git
  • Great attention to details for spotting and addressing data issues
  • Experience in any of the following technologies will be advantage: Apache Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, BigQuery ML, Looker
  • Past experience integrating marketing platforms such as Salesforce, Pardot, 6Sense, Google Analytics with data warehouses will be a big advantage
