Data Scientist

Rackspace is seeking a Data Scientist that has a passion for technology and is ready to join our Global Data Team. Position SummaryWe are looking for a passionate Data Scientist who has a strong quantitative background, solid experience working with machine learning models in practice, and experience developing data-informed products. This role requires strength in all stages working with big data. 

Responsibilities

• Applies and integrates coding, statistics, mathematical and business analytics skills to manage and manipulate high volume data from a variety of sources.
• Creates new data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
• Able to rapidly test new ideas, debugging, and refactoring existing models.
• Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.
• Continues to build knowledge of the company, processes and customers.
• Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline.
• Uses prescribed guidelines or processes in analyzing situations.
• Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Qualifications

• Creates new data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
• Able to rapidly test new ideas, debugging, and refactoring existing model.
• Working knowledge of principles and methods within own job family/discipline.
• Working knowledge of the company, products, services and customers.
• Understands key drivers of success in functional area and uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
• Experience with statistical modeling techniques.
• Ability to obtain data from multiple, disparate data sources including structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with cloud-based ecosystems (GCP, AWS).
• Successful demonstrated experience in working on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from easy to medium.
• Experience in creating reports, projections, models.
• Experience with agile software launching, cleansing, aggregation, enhancement, supporting analysis and predictive modelling activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or quantitative discipline required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of data science related experience gained through a combination of academic studies and work experience
• Prior work and/or research demonstrate experience in the following areas:
• Statistics exploratory analysis, model development, and theory
• Data mining discovery of patterns & signals in data or anomaly detection
• Algorithms Decision trees, probabilistic reasoning, neural networks, clustering, case based reasoning
• Natural Language Processing NLP and text analysis
• Software engineering Ability to work with team members to implement algorithms
• Operations Monitoring and maintaining models in production
• Solid experience with Python
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Machine Learning courses
• Experience developing predictive models
• Proven ability to draw conclusions from data and generating actionable information.
• Excellent quantitative reasoning and creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with and lead interdisciplinary team members to solve problems.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for analytics and solving real-world problems.
• Advanced English level, this positions will work with international teams
