Junior Data Engineer

Position Summary:

The Junior Data Engineer will work on implementing data flows to make data available in the Enterprise Data Warehouse from systems of record and operational data stores.  The Junior Data Engineer will get to work on best-in-class cloud technologies(Snowflake,Fivetran, AWS,Azure,Salesforce, Airflow etc).

Along with making data available in the Enterprise Data Warehouse the Junior Data Engineer will work with Data Analysts to implement data models and calculate key business KPIs for the use of the wider business for reporting and analytics.

The Junior Data Engineer will have the opportunity to learn and develop their skills by working on assignments as part of a Scrum Team guided by more senior Data Engineers. They should be delivery focused and driven to problem solve.

Essential Job Functions:

• Engineering data flows from various sources (On-Prem, SaaS and API)
• Unit testing and troubleshooting
• Understanding technical design and executing basic technical requirements
• Supporting day to day operational tasks

Required Skills: 

• Intermediate Python
• Intermediate SQL
• Understanding basic database & data warehouse concepts
• Basic knowledge of Rest APIs
• Outstanding communication skills and strong team player
• Strong written communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of Cloud Technologies in AWS or Azure
• Experience in a SaaS environment – Snowflake, Fivetran, Lambda, Airflow
• Prior experience of using Salesforce or data from Salesforce
• Data ingestion & Transformations using ETL/ELT tools
• Basic knowledge of BI Tools – Power BI, Tableau.
• Basic knowledge of DevOps tools – Github, Atlassian Tools, VS Code etc
• Knowledge of Agile delivery

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
