About the Role

We are in the search of an ambitious Data Engineer to be part of our newly formed Data Engineering team here at HTB.

In this role, you will take over our data pipelines, maintain and develop new ones, improve data quality, make data available to the organisation and expand data usage across the organisation. Your day-to-day will include end to end involvement and design of ETL processes, including sourcing data from different HTB departments, checking them, transforming them into clear information and loading them for various uses. The creation of clean and articulated code will definitely help in this process.

You will be heavily involved with both consuming and developing REST APIs, manage data infrastructure and services, and have the opportunity to work with a plethora of key 3rd party tools like Fivetran, Snowflake and many more. We are looking for someone who is a constant learner and thinks outside the box. Since the team is recently shaped, there is a lot of room for innovative ideas and taking part in more creative tasks.

We are an online cybersecurity training platform that allows individuals, businesses, universities, and all kinds of organizations all around the world to level up their offensive and defensive security skills through a fully gamified and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Combine, analyse and organise raw data from different sources
• Build data systems and pipelines
• Evaluate business needs and objectives by doing requirements capturing and analysis
• Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling
• Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
• Identify opportunities for data acquisition

Requirements

• At least 1 year of previous experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role (e.g. Software Engineer)
• Knowledge of a programming language, ideally Python, PHP or Java
• Hands-on experience with SQL
• Technical expertise with data models, and data mining
• Adequate knowledge of English language (written and verbal)

Additional Preferred Requirements:

• Previous experience with cloud technologies & tools will be considered a plus
• Experience with event streaming and event processing is a plus
• Data Engineering certification (e.g IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus
