Department Overview 

Benson Hill is looking for a passionate and proven Data Analysts to be part of our Tech Acceleration team. This position will work with R&D and Technology Acceleration team members to understand end-to-end process workflows, and drive and contribute to data analytics work products in order to scale product development. 

Position Summary 

This role will be responsible for data analytics and pipeline modeling and will work collaboratively with the Technology teams to translate business needs into the development of data and analytical work products to support Benson Hill R&D activities. 

You will be responsible for: (Essential Duties and Responsibilities) 

• Identify gaps and opportunities for development of new technology, systems, and approaches to enable data acquisition and integration to accelerate R&D activities 
• Work directly with key data pipelines and datasets to validate quality and process. Develop interpersonal relationships to effectively push on Business Functions to drive improvement and change as needed 
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop clear and measurable business metrics, track and analyze trends in the KPIs. 
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining custom reporting and visualizations using BI tools (Quicksight, etc.) 
• Execute SQL queries or Python Scripts to extract data from data warehouse and business applications to support reporting and analytics. 
• Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting to other departments 
• Communicate data insights and findings with other cross-functional teams  
• Model BH product pipelines, to ensure transparency of the product pipelines and enable then to running efficiently and be fully optimized  
• Work closely with other departments to gather new data and leverage existing data to make our CropOS product better for us and our customers 

You Have: 

(Competencies and Qualifications) 

• B.S. in life science, data science, computer science, or other technical field

Experience 

• Experience analyzing processes, data, or systems to identify opportunities for scale, analytic lift, or automation. 
• Experience examining data objects and modeling their implications for on biological & pipeline factors 
• Experience with BI reporting tools (Quicksight, Tableau, Spotfire) 
• Scripting experience in (Python, R) 
• SQL experience and experience using to derive insights on performance or operations data 
• Proficiency in data analysis and research methods 
• Experience with relational databases or NoSql 

Preferred qualifications 

• Practical knowledge of data in various forms (data warehouses, SQL, unstructured data environments, HIVE) 
• Experience working in a cloud deployment such as AWS is a plus 
• Excellent communication skills including the ability to identify and communicate data driven insights 
• Experience with working with data teams directly or through external organizations is a plus
