Job Summary:
As the Utility Data Analyst, you will be responsible for extracting, reviewing, and analyzing data related to energy procurement, utility billing, and waste services. You will play a crucial role in identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization. Your insights will drive strategic decision-making and improve operational efficiency in energy and utility management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities to effectively communicate issues and assist in their resolution. The Data Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, and resolve utility-related issues, ensuring the continued delivery of reliable services to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Extraction and Review:
- Extract and review data from various sources, including utility billing platforms, procurement databases, and waste management systems.
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness through regular audits and validation checks.
- Data Analysis and Insights:
- Analyze energy consumption patterns, utility costs, and waste management metrics to identify trends and outliers.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to optimize energy usage, reduce costs, and improve sustainability.
- Benchmarking and Performance Monitoring:
- Benchmark energy costs and consumption against industry standards and historical data.
- Monitor performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of energy management strategies.
- Anomaly Detection and Resolution:
- Identify data anomalies and discrepancies in utility billing, procurement contracts, and waste services.
- Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure accurate billing and reporting.
- Financial Analysis and Budgeting:
- Conduct financial analysis to track utility expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and forecast future expenses.
- Assist in budget planning and monitoring for energy services and waste management.
- Strategic Insights and Recommendations:
- Provide strategic insights based on data analysis to support decision-making by senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement energy efficiency projects and sustainability initiatives.
- Reporting and Presentation:
- Prepare and present regular reports on energy consumption, utility costs, and waste management metrics.
- Communicate data insights effectively to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Process Improvement and Automation:
- Identify opportunities to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
- Implement automation tools and techniques to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Strong experience in data analysis.
- Proficiency in data extraction tools and data visualization software (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proven track record of delivering actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
- Experience with utility systems and processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
