The Role

As a Data Engineer - Snowflake Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimising our data pipeline and analytics architecture on the Snowflake platform. You will work closely with data analysts, software engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure data availability, quality, and reliability. Your expertise in Snowflake will drive the efficiency and scalability of our data ecosystem, enabling informed business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Data Quality and Model Accuracy: Ensure the highest standards of data quality and model accuracy, implementing rigorous testing and validation processes. 
  • Performance Optimisation: Leverage your Snowflake expertise to optimise both data and AI model performance, ensuring efficient processing and insightful analytics. 
  • Data Pipeline and AI Integration: Extend the responsibilities of data pipeline development to include the integration of AI models, ensuring seamless data flow and processing for AI applications. 
  • Data governance and data security practices: Ensure we’re using best practices to protect data and comply with regulatory requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
  • AI Strategy and Innovation: Act as the primary thought leader for AI within the organisation, proposing and implementing innovative AI solutions that enhance our platform offering and contribute to pilot projects. 
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation for AI models and data architectures, and share your knowledge to uplift the team's capabilities in data and AI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Expertise in Snowflake architecture, design, and performance optimisation.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, database design, and data modeling concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools and data integration techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data warehousing concepts.
  • Ability to write and optimise complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Snowflake certification(s) would be a definite advantage
