Staff Simulation Engineer, Aircraft SIL and HIL

We are looking for a Staff Aircraft SIL/HIL Simulation Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Staff Aircraft SIL/HIL Simulation Engineer at Wisk is to ensure that aircraft systems are correctly simulated to provide stakeholder teams a software testing/development environment.

Some of the areas this engineer will support are:

  • Real-time, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and System-Level simulations 
  • Simulation-time, Software-In-the-Loop (SIL). Local and cloud based
  • Avionics hardware and embedded software development and certification activities
  • Aircraft system development and certification activities
  • Ground segment development and certification activities
  • Evaluating and validating aircraft performance 

Why we need you:

  • The Staff Aircraft SIL/HIL Simulation Engineer is responsible for providing the environment necessary for embedded software teams to test and develop their software. This engineer is the technical point of contact for the Simulation Modeling teams’ effort in this area.

What you will do:

  • Act as the technical point of contact between the Simulation Modeling team and internal groups/IPTs to define and meet their needs with respect to Aircraft SIL/HIL
  • Work with the rest of the Simulation Modeling team to develop the backlog and to ensure that the needs of internal groups/IPTs are met
  • Help to cultivate and develop departmental expertise with Aircraft SIL/HIL simulations
  • Help define and fulfill long term simulation requirements of the simulation platform

What you have done:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in dynamic system modeling, working with HIL/SIL simulations and test environments
  • Experience in hardware/software integration, ideally debugging aircraft protocols at the bit level
  • Proficiency in C++ 11, Matlab/Simulink, and python
  • Experience with three-dimensional dynamics: reference frames, DCMs, etc.
  • Experience developing in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Strong software architecture design and development skills
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • Proficiency in modern C++ (17 forward)
  • Familiarity with Simulink Autocode
  • CMake experience
  • Experience conforming with FMI.
  • Experience with protocol buffers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
  • Prior experience with DO-178, DO-254 or similar certification standards
  • Prior experience with the design, development, test and certification of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs)
