Claims Data Analyst

London, England, United Kingdom

About Zego

We’re a commercial motor insurer on a mission to save people time and money. From scooter delivery riders to private hire taxi drivers, our customers are our driving force. We’re making insurance fairer and more human for every one of them.

When we started back in 2016, we knew that traditional insurance held businesses back. It was too complicated, too expensive and too time consuming. So we set out to change things, building insurance solutions that empower professional drivers throughout the UK and Europe.

So far, we’ve raised over $200 million in funding. We’ve grown from a scrappy start-up into an industry changing organisation, and there’s plenty more to come.

That’s where you come in…

Purpose of role

We are looking for an analyst who is enthusiastic about enhancing claims procedures and customer experience. In this role, you'll leverage your analytical skills to bolster our claims operations. As a product-led tech company, this is a chance for an analyst to join a rapidly scaling Claims team and have an impact on one of the most important areas within insurance.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with our Claims and Fraud departments to develop comprehensive reporting and dashboards for our internal Claims division. You will provide claims insights both to our Claims Leadership team and the wider business and undertake analysis to spot commercial and operational opportunities for improvement.

What you will be doing

  • Designing and building core data models and reporting to support day to day operations of the Claims and Fraud functions as well as key reporting for senior stakeholders (Zego leadership, investors, insurance partners) on the claims function performance
  • Enabling key decision making for the Claims and Fraud leadership team by analysing performance and the underlying drivers, identifying and sizing opportunities for continuous improvement within the current processes and communicating them to the leadership team, and tracking impact of improvement initiatives
  • Working closely with senior management to present findings and tell engaging stories through data, whether supporting the Claims, Fraud, or Pricing business processes, or Zego’s Leadership Team and external / partner reporting needs.

What you will need to be successful

  • Degree or equivalent experience  (STEM subjects would be advantageous)
  • Ability to extract and manipulate data using SQL
  • Experience building out PowerBI data models, reporting and dashboards
  • Ability to build coherent narratives around data insights while explaining complex concepts in a simple way to senior stakeholders (investors, Zego board, insurance capacity)
  • Understanding of the wider insurance motor market and the factors that impact commercial performance (nice to have)
  • Comprehensive technical and operational knowledge of claims processes, along with financial understanding of claim reserving and settlements (nice to have)
  • Understand actuarial and reserving methodologies and be the claims and fraud liaison between these key areas with Zego (nice to have)

How we work

We believe that teams work better when they have time to collaborate and space to get things done. We call it Zego Hybrid.

Our hybrid way of working is unique. We don't mandate fixed office days. Instead, we foster a flexible approach that empowers every Zegon to perform at their best. We ask you to spend at least one day a week in our central London office (next to Liverpool Street). You have the flexibility to choose the day that works best for you and your team. We cover the costs for all company-wide events (3 per year), and also provide a separate hybrid contribution to help pay towards other travel costs. We think it’s a good mix of collaborative face time and flexible home-working, setting us up to achieve the right balance between work and life.
