Senior Sales Engineer, Marine (Mumbai)

ZF Marine, a business unit of ZF responsible for the Marine OE and aftersales business, is looking for a competent and energetic Sales Manager in India. In his responsibility to enhance and grow the business in India, he will be in charge of coordinating activities of branch in Mumbai with the basic functions of OE sales to Marine customers, Technical Service Concepts and execution and spare parts business. The candidate will be resident in Mumbai and reporting to the Head of Marine Sales in Dubai.

Core duties and responsibilities

• Generate Marine OE sales with all respective market partner in India, together with ZF Marine ME, Dubai, and the Marine HQ in Europe.
• Grow the sales business of technical services and spare parts within India.
• Together with the existing Senior Manager, responsible for coordinating the activities of the branch in Mumbai and supporting the team to achieve the annual sales targets.
• Promote ZF products; do direct sales with customers for technical services (Promoting, Quoting, and Contracting) and indirect sales for OE and AS Components for the Foreign ZF entity with sales responsibility.
• Manage the current customer base and setup new customer relations and partner cooperation’s within the Indian Marine business. Proposes Customer’s specific initiatives, as well as market development activities for the purpose.
• Offering After-Sales support services in close co-operation with the ZF Marine ME technical division in Dubai.
• Manage existing After-Sales partners and potentially develop new After-Sales and service partners and points with the support of the technical service team.
• Make & execute strategic Sales plans for brand and support the management in Dubai/India in defining periodic business plans and annual budgets for the region.
• Coordinating sales projects.
• Prepare and submit timely reports for head office.
• Gather market information and data about competitors.

Knowledge & Skills

• Engineering background, preferred Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with Marine experience.
• A minimum of 5+ years Sales experience preferably Marine Components (OE) & After Sales Service, preferably Propulsion systems.
• Good understanding of the Marine technology including different propulsion system concepts and components.
• Knowledge about market dynamics of Marine Industry and ship building industry is essential. 
• Proactive personality, hands on mentality, self-motivated
• Organized, target oriented, able to work under pressure.
• Leadership character, able to motivate a team.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Visionary, able to define goals and present these.
• Ability to work in a matrix organization.
• Former Lt Cdr position in Navy or Coast Guard will be an added advantage.
• Experience with MS Office: Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint

Language requirement

• Excellent English language skill. Any Indian language will be an added advantage.
