Teams at Wayflyer are truly cross-functional. Regardless of your role at Wayflyer, you'll work with a variety of different disciplines and teams from around the world on a multitude of challenging projects and game-changing products to revolutionise the eCommerce landscape.

Why this role?

Data plays a vital role in everything we do here at Wayflyer. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be a key contributor to our development by testing hypotheses, creating analysis, designing experiments, building predictive models, and surfacing recommendations to leaders across the business.

You will work in a team with Finance to build solutions to our most complex challenges in quantitive risk, portfolio management and optimised pricing.

What you'll do

• Develop advanced statistical analysis and modelling to help inform in risk-based decision-making, including probability of default, exposure at default and loss given default models, risk segmentation, scenario analysis and stress testing.

• Design and carry out experiments to optimise pricing of our products across geographies and risk segments

• Work with our Finance team to inform strategic decision making and provide support in due diligence processes, audits and fund raising.

• Use modern machine learning techniques to uncover patterns in eCommerce, marketing and financial data, and productionise these models to serve predictions in customer facing web products.

• Design and develop automated reports using SQL/Python and Tableau to surface insights to the entire business.

• Contribute to and maintain a high quality codebase, ensuring code is well written, well tested and re-usable

• Build reliable data pipelines and systems to improve, automate and scale our current business processes.

• Effectively communicate results, insights and data-driven narratives across the business.

• Mentor other Data Scientists within your team to ensure we are growing our skill base across the Data Function

Knowledge, skills and experience

• You have experience working as a Data Scientist, developing predictive models using modern machine learning techniques.

• You have excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills, and have a strong ability to deliver results within tight timelines.

• You are a full stack Data Scientist and have the ability to learn new skills quickly

• You have strong coding skills with Python (or you are willing to learn quickly)

• You have a passion for startups and online businesses (these are our only customers!).

What is important to point out is that you can do most or all of the above mentioned and can point to your real experience doing it. You’ve probably done it at companies of different shapes, sizes and industries. Given what we do, experience in financial services, fintech and business-to-business organisations is particularly interesting to us.
