About N-Power Medicine N-Power Medicine aims to establish a new paradigm in drug development by reinventing the ‘how’ and transforming clinical trials through better integration with clinical practice, ensuring broader participation by physicians and patients.  We are building an exceptional multi-disciplinary team with diverse expertise spanning healthcare, engineering, technology and regulatory, and with people who share our core value of Empowering Community through generosity, curiosity and humility.  We are working with urgency to bring better therapies to patients faster.
Our organization specializes in generating clinical research grade data and we have recently implemented processes for clinical data generation, abstraction, and synthesis. To advance our understanding and software product development in this area, we are currently seeking two summer interns to contribute to the following two projects:
PROJECT 1: Prototyping an AI-based information retrieval system. For this project there is potential to develop a AI/machine learning system that uses LLMs/NLP to abstract information from pathology and radiology notes, as well as synthesize such extracted information to templates, and subsequently use the structured information to write a medical note for a patient; and,
PROJECT 2: Adapt and develop Causal Inference methods to NPM’s prospectively acquired patient level standard of care data, to answer cohort- and treatment effect questions in the community oncology setting. Help develop external control or digital twin technology based on imaging based outcomes data as well as genomic information at baseline. The work may include identifying data gaps in and devising strategies to close such gaps during NPM’s data collection process.
Each intern will have a primary focus on one of the above two projects. The interns are expected to have excellent computational skills and be able to navigate a diverse set of compute environments.
The summer internship is 8-weeks and 28-40 hours/week. This is a hybrid on-site role, Bay Area is required.
