Position Description

Origis is seeking a Data Analyst to join our diverse and growing team. The ideal candidate, reporting to our Director- Performance Engineering will oversee the compilation and extraction of data from our various Solar PV and Battery Storage site monitoring platforms, and assist in the creation of reports, visualization tools, graphs, etc. This role involves heavy quantitative analysis, programming, and data manipulation skills.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Leverage data and analytics experience to propose solutions for Origis Services users while applying visualization and effectively managing and analyzing complex data sets to identify trends, and patterns.
  • Reviews and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources to meet KPI reporting for the solar sites managed by Origis Services.
  • Supports the Performance Engineering data collection and data analytics efforts with an understanding of the criticality of the key performance metrics for UPP Solar sites.
  • Provides solutions to efficiently access data quality and translate the data to meaningful information to assess performance at sites under O & M agreements with Origis Services.
  • Identifies and assists to remediate root causes of data issues/anomalies that may be encountered during data analysis.
  • Supports the Performance Engineering group and leads in translating the results of statistical analysis and predictive analytics into actionable insights.
  • Collaborates with multiple groups to access and aggregate data streams from multiple sources.
  • Lead the development of effective and scalable methods to automate the extraction of data and generation of applicable site performance metrics.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, statistics, science, economics, or finance.
  • 3-4+ years of experience in a quantitative role within the energy industry or directly related academic setting.
  • Demonstrated programming experience using SQL, Power BI, VBA, Python, MATLAB, R and database programing (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Access, SQLite).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of power industry experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, infer and interpret information to solve highly complex problems.
  • Skill in working cross functionally with multiple other teams inside and outside system planning and with team members of various different backgrounds.
  • Interests in understanding the data needs of a regulated utility, the constraints of the regulatory environment.
  • Familiarity with UPP Solar Plant monitoring platforms and models is a plus.
  • Electrical or power engineering education or industry experience is a plus.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
